step 1
Sauté vegetables: Heat Olive Oil (1 Tbsp) in a large pan over medium heat. Add Onion (1), Carrot (1), Celery (1 rib), and Garlic (5 cloves). Sauté for 5-7 minutes until soft.
step 2
Cook the meat: Add the Ground Beef (14 oz). Cook, breaking it apart, until browned (about 5 minutes). Drain any excess fat if needed.
step 3
Add tomatoes: Stir in Crushed Tomatoes (1 can), Tomato Paste (2 Tbsp), Beef Stock (1/2 cup) (or water), and Italian Seasoning (1 Tbsp). Season with Salt (to taste) and Ground Black Pepper (to taste).
step 4
Simmer: Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. For a richer flavor, stir in the Whole Milk (1/2 cup) and simmer for an extra 5-10 minutes.
step 5
Preheat the pan/griddle: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
step 6
Combine Spaghetti (2 cups) and sauce: In a bowl, mix the cooked spaghetti with the Bolognese sauce until well-coated.
step 7
Assemble the sandwiches: Lay out 4 slices of Sandwich Bread (8 slices). Spread a thin layer of the spaghetti mixture evenly over each slice. Sprinkle Shredded Mozzarella Cheese (1 cup) on top. Cover each sandwich with another slice of bread.
step 8
Butter the bread: Spread Butter (4 Tbsp) on the outside of each sandwich (one side per slice).
step 9
Cook the sandwiches: Place the sandwiches on the skillet, butter-side down. Cook for 3–4 minutes on each side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese has melted.
step 10
Serve: Slice each sandwich in half and garnish with Fresh Basil Leaves (to taste), if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
